A Landscape Add-On module has been completed which has a complete
Landscape Inventory including Trees and Land Types section. It also
has an Inspection portion that tracks a contractor's work activity and
includes an Invoicing section.

Due to the extremely LOW interest (only one message) in the starter
(Lite) version of microPAV, all development of a Lite version has been
suspended. The level of work required to keep a current Lite version is
to high for the demand.

In recognition of even more tightening of budgets after the recent 911
tragic events, we are totally revamping our product structures and
prices. The microPAV product(s) are mature, stable and feature rich.
We also acknowledge that we are a very small business, especially when
compared to many other large corporations in the Pavement Management
arena. This change is aimed at making the microPAV core program
available to many communities that otherwise could not even consider
it. Yet, a growth option is available should it later be determined
that a community (user) needs and can afford to purchase the Pro version of microPAV.

Added the ability to export the Main data tables in three different
formats. The file formats supported are CSV (comma separated variables),
DBF, or SDF (space delimited file). You have the ability to select
which fields within each table that is exported. This allows you to
control the type and amount of information that could be imported into
other programs like Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel.

Added the ability to save Inventory statistics in an Inventory History
data table. This allows you to view your inventory growth in a variety
of measurements. You can track changes within each classification with
Street area, center-line miles, lanes, lane miles, average PCI,
average Ride score, and number of street sections by classification.
Add several new Quality Control reports.

Added the ability to save any reports in either HTML or PDF format.
This features means that you now can save any report in one of these
standard type formats. They can then be sent as an attachment to a
friend or colleague and viewed or printed by them using commonly
available programs.

Rigid surface support is being activated. No user has requested this
feature but it is being added to complete that area of the microPAV
program before moving on to other enhancements of the microPAV program.
The ability to identify a pavement as flexible / rigid surface has
been a part of the microPAV program for several years. However, the
rigid surface PCI curves were not active. Updated PDF manual is
completed and available for download. This includes the addition of
the rigid surface charts without increase the pages.

Added Consumer Price Index (CPI) table that allows the user to input
their own inflation factors. Several existing reports had cost
information added that use this CPI table. New Asset Management
reports added include "Present Worth", "Life Time Cost" and
"Treatment versus Dollars".

A special laptop version of the microPAV system is available. The
laptop version "checks out" street segments which can then be taken
into the field and updated with observed current information. These
"checked out" segments are locked on the main system and can only be
updated by the laptop(s). When the field work has been completed, the
laptop(s) can be connected back to the main system and only the
"updated" segments are transferred back to the main tables.

microPAV now has three (3) user defined fields. You can assign the Name
shown on the Inventory data entry screen, the name of the data field
and the length of the data field. You also have the ability to turn the
visibility to these fields on/off. Just leave the visibility off if
you are not using this feature. This update also includes a new core
database engine that improves the speed of reading information when
fetching information in a network environment.

We have joined the internet age. The initial purpose of this site is to make access to the latest demo version and electronic documentation of the microPAV easier for all potential clients. Check the download section for latest DEMO version.
For your information: We frequently test the microPAV program on the various 32 bit windows platforms to insure that there is not an Operating System (OS) induced problem. For those who are interested, the primary windows environment currently used for development is Windows 2000.
We are working on improving this site as rapidly as possible.
Thank you for your patience.

The Pro module of the microPAV program has been added to the microPAV
family of products with more planned for the future. The main feature added
in the Pro module is the ability to do multi-year forecasting. The
forecasting routines use several specialized tables that are user
defined and maintained. Also included in the Pro module is a utility
projects tracking system. Of course several more reports have been
added including one that merges both the forecast and projects into a
single report.

Development and testing of a true 32 bit version of microPAV was completed. The microPAV program is now available for all 32 bit Windows Operating Systems (OS) platforms (Windows 95, 98 and NT 4). Update: Add Windows 2000 and Windows Millennium to the supported OS.
This version of microPAV (standard) allows the user to taylor the system
to their local maintenance policies. This is done through user maintained
support data tables and an options table. The standard version stores
information about the inventory, distress surveys, work history (treatments),
ride index. Of course, the standard version does automatic calculation of
all PCI values. It has numerous flexible reports aimed at both the user
and management levels of street maintenance.

A working prototype of a 32 bit windows version of microPAV was completed.
This prototype demonstrated several of the major design features. One
of these features was using a tabbed notebook approach for the data
entry screen for the main data tables (inventory, surveys and
treatments). Also, the tools and techniques for generating reports
was explored during this phase. This prototype validated the design
approach. Development of microPAV for the 32 bit environment was
started in earnest.

The development of a 16 bit windows version of microPAV was completed.
However, it was considered too late for a long-term viability within this
dynamic computer market place. The version was never released. It became
apparent that 32 bit windows (Windows 95) would become the defacto
standard once Win95 was released. Therefore, the purpose of 16-bit
windows version became that of a test bed of the windows environment
and was used to surface the main issues that needed to be resolved for
a full-featured windows version of microPAV.

The first DOS version of microPAV was finished and placed in use within
the state of Arizona. In addition to the core inventory table, this early
version included full calculation of PCI values and the ability to store
current and history on distress surveys and treatments (work history).
Several reports were available and included support for several
different printers including laserjets (which was a big deal back in
those days).
